WorldQuest is JWAC's annual quiz game fundraiser. It's a trivia night, played in teams while you eat dinner, featuring 5 rounds of 10 questions about geography and world affairs etc. with breaks between each for bidding. The whole night takes about 3.5 hours and it flies by. The best team size is 8. Bring people with you or come on your own and find others there to play with (we have ''join us!'' tables. The winning team earns honor and glory, as well as their team name engraved on the perpetual trophy.
This is some people's favorite event in Juneau, and it's a great time even if you're not good at trivia. Juneau's WorldQuest is custom-written by our illustrious and hilarious quiz-master (who also does this website). The questions are fairly random (which means there's only one question about some pop culture thing you don't care about or that sports team you've never even heard of instead of an entire section on it. All the questions are multiple choice, and are written so that a little bit of knowledge on the subject should let you divine your way to at least a 50/50 guess to make it more fun. And it's always better to write a question about a number where the answer is a phrase than to write a question about a phrase where you just have to pick between four numbers (''which if these events happened in 1979'' vs. ''when did this even happen?''). And even if you have no idea what an answer is, the questions are fun just to hear, and generally informative. It's like 'Jeopardy!' meets 'Where in the World is Carmen San Diego,' just with fewer red trench coats.
During the contest, an international buffet is served, featuring delectables from all over the world, and there is a no-host bar. Being a fundraiser, there is also a silent auction, with items donated by businesses, artists and individuals from all over Southeast, as well as a dessert auction with treats created by local culinary enthusiasts. We follow the standard format of the Juneau-Fundraiser-at-Centennial, but there are no lengthy speeches and we make sure to entertain you with a well-practiced show. It's a great night!
